The Bordado de Guimarães is one of the oldest embroideries in Portugal, characterized by delicate and meticulous work with cotton thread on homemade linen. This feminine art evolved from the popular embroidery used in regional costumes. The originality of this embroidery lies in the predominance of the bullion stitch, contrasting with the great variety of stitches used, and in the uniqueness of the geometric motifs with floral inspiration.
